Are you passionate about analyzing, understanding, and optimizing editorial content – both from a quantitative and qualitative perspective? 

We are looking for a talented Data Analyst to join our Analytics team within the Technology department at Tamedia. Working with a team of data engineers, data analysts and our newsrooms, you will shape the usage of data and support data-driven decision making across Tamedia’s core business (e.g. Tages-Anzeiger, 24 heures, Tribune de Genève, Berner Zeitung). This includes understanding the needs of our users, the perspective of our journalists as well as optimizing and improving our data infrastructure.  Your analyses will help, consequently, to improve also our offers, the marketing activities and our digital products.

Your Mission & Responsibilities

  • Analyze the users of Tamedia's digital platforms and the consumption of content, leveraging on our data lake and analytics tools. This includes the preparation of reports, dashboards and presentations
  • Work in close collaboration with our editorial, product, marketing, and IT departments to share data and insights to better understand and get closer to existing and potential readers 
  • Define concepts and implement tracking  solutions, with particular focus on the Google Stack (Google Analytics 360, Firebase, Google Tag Manager) and its integrations with other digital products (e.g. marketing tools, social networks, advertising etc.)
  • Understand the business objectives and make sure that our data infrastructure can support the current business challenges 

Must-have / Minimum Qualifications

  • Higher education degree in an industry-relevant field such as technology, economics, statistics, or equivalent experience
  • Advanced knowledge of digital analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics 360, Adobe Analytics, BigQuery or Firebase) and of tag management tools (e.g. Google Tag Manager, Launch, or Tealium)
  • Significant experience working with large volumes of data and capable of investigating, familiarizing and mastering new data sets quickly
  • Experience working with BI and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, DataStudio, Tableau)
  • Good knowledge in querying databases (e.g SQL) and Web Development languages (e.g. HTML, Javascript, Python)
  • Ability to translate unstructured questions into structured hypotheses and  to communicate complex findings to an internal audience
  • Interest in helping to shape the future of media as a critical pillar of our democracy
  • Attention to detail and comfortable in working with fluid and complex organizational structures across an array of brands, departments, and teams in multiple locations, as you will need to build and maintain cross-functional relationships
  • Fluency in English, basic knowledge of German
